The Hunt
THE HUNT
South Africa is a vast country with a huge variety of
hunting areas. A great diversity of mammals, including
all the Dangerous seven, abounds in the different
areas of our beautiful country. In addition to that,
South Africa also offers a rich bird life, whereof great
numbers are found in the Limpopo area.
Hunting is conducted on 35 different concessions
(500 000 acres) in the Limpopo area, within a radius
of 15 minutes to 1 hour drive from the camp, covering
beautiful savannah, river and mountainous areas.
This means that the hunter will
be back in the camp in the evenings, to be catered for
in our unique style of entertainment.
Some popular varieties like the 4 different Springbuck
species, Black Wildebeest, Lechwe and many more
species are habituating in the Free State province.
A road trip or Charter flight is suitable to undertake,
depending on the hunter’s preference. This area has
its own unique grassland terrain, demanding far range
shooting, giving a different approach to hunting.
Some other areas where we may also hunt are the
Eastern Cape and the Lowveld.
Lion hunting takes place in the Kalahari district of
South Africa. This area is semi bushveld and hot,
perfectly suited for the purpose, since it is a Lion’s
natural territory. Tusks & Tracks Africa complies to all
the PHASA hunting regulations in this regard, and
hunts on a 12,000 acre private concession. Lions are
not put on bait, but hunted by walking & stalking
with bushman trackers, giving the lion a fair chase
with men.
The method of hunting depends on the client, whether
it be with a bow or rifle, however, bow hunting on lion
requires a special permit. Plains game hunting with a
bow & arrow are mainly executed on concessions
exclusively for bow hunting, in terms of terrain, blinds/
hides & support.
In all cases where hunters have to sleep out, Tusks &
Tracks Africa ensures that the facilities are equal to
that of the main camp.
Our 5 Star Lodges are fully equipped with a skinning
shed and proper slaughtering facilities. We believe
that the trophies need to be treated with respect, from
the kill to the final preparation of mounting.
Carcasses are skinned by highly experienced skinners,
who also prepare the trophies for dip & packing.
Most of the meat is used for camp purposes.
With well maintained company vehicles, our 4 X 4
hunting trucks, equipped with two-way radios, field
support and medical assistance, are able to almost
undertake any hunting trip in South Africa or
neighboring countries. Well experienced
professional hunters and trackers ensure a trouble
free and exciting hunting experience – long to be
remembered.
Tusks & Tracks Africa also offer hunting possibilities
in neighboring countries, like Zimbabwe, Botswana
& Mozambique, where Big Game hunting such as
Buffalo or Elephant may be under taken. These trips
are usually undertaken with charter flight services
from Tusks & Tracks Africa. The accommodation
facilities in these outskirts are developed to provide
the basic, but yet comfortable facilities. Rooms
might vary from bungalows to Safari tents, but all
are equipped with en-suite bathrooms.
